Nudist Hotel Planned in Germany's Southwestern Black Forest

Clothes will be strictly forbidden on the premises of Germany's first hotel for nudists, which will open shortly in the southwestern Black Forest region.

Investors plan to set up a hotel catering exclusively to nudists in the picturesque Black Forest town of Freudenstadt, which incidentally translates as Town of Joys.

Guests will be required to remove their clothes at the entrance and must be naked at all times while on the premises, according to the strict house rules that have already been posted on the Internet.

"We hope to open as soon as possible," Silvia Probsthain, a member of staff at the planned Hotel Rosengarten, told SPIEGEL ONLINE. "It will be the first comprehensively nudist hotel in Germany." There are similar hotels catering for nudists in Scandinavia, Croatia and the south of France, said Probsthain.

The rules state that all guests must put towels on chairs and loungers before using them, that there be no sexual harassment and that all sexual activity in commonly accessible rooms is strictly forbidden. People who break the rules will have to put their clothes on and leave.

Freudenstadt's tourism director Michael Krause said the contracts for the hotel hadn't been finalized yet and that it was unclear when the project will go ahead. "I'm in two minds," Krause told SPIEGEL ONLINE. "It's always good if a new hotel is set up but I'd prefer a normal hotel concept."

Nude hiking is proving increasingly popular in Germany and two villages in the central Harz mountain range plan to mark special forest hiking routes for naked ramblers. The practice is frowned on in neighboring Switzerland, however, where authorities plan to fine such behavior.

Thanks, Danee!

Somebody reported here about it (the german version), it's nice you did it in the english section! :]

I'm not sure I'd like to be absolutely all the times without clothes.
If e.g. aircondition disturbs me, I'd like to cover in certain situations...

Freudenstadt is only about 25 km away from my hometown. :D

aircondition?

so you dont want to make scratches if you run into a glass wall :D

but i understand it, for exampel if you come from outside in summer and you sweat, then you go in -> AC, you can bet 200 EUR that you will be sick next day

I think its a great idea. It gives nudists a place to live their lifestyle and also a place for those interested in trying it. Some "new" might not normally be willing to venture to a resort might do this instead

I like most that Clothes will be strictly forbidden there! I do not like this "Clothing Optional" thing as the equalizing effect of nudity simply does not take place when some people are naked and some are not. I personally feel bad when nude amongst clothed people. What do you think?

Hi Ben. My feelings are a little mixed on this. At clubs and resorts, I think it should be compulsory in swimming pools, hotubs but my personal experience is that when taking a friend or when younger, a person with their parents permission to a club for the first time, it is a positive thing to not make it compulsory there. That way, they can take their time to see it is normal and it is simply not some weird thing, when they see other families there too. Eventually, without exception I think. they get into it. Thats a real fkk club and not one with half and half there. (people who only go to look)

Now, with beaches? Clothing optional is fine for me but I see the good things for that, and the bad as well as one does have, especially in my country, people who have no interest in it themselves, but go to look (stare) at younger girls and guys and they are not there for the right reason.
So, I can see how a beach that says, "Nudity beyond this point is compulsory" makes sense too. Eveyone is!

With the hotel, keep in mind also that some people might have a teeshirt on at times as they find a chill in the air perhaps, but others might not too.

Thats my view.

Great idea! Hope they start a chain of such hotels in the U.S. How about "NudistInn"?
